Purpose of survey is to get ideas on how to make the CCPOA meetings valuable for the members. Something mentioned on the survey was how to effectively use social media and crime prevention. ROUND TABLE. Mt. View Mt. View having budget issues positions potentially on chopping block are CSOs, Assistants. Volunteers distribute fliers to notify businesses of armed robberies that are happening in the city. Thought to be a large crew also going on in SJ and Santa Clara More interest in social networking low interest in traditional community meetings. Moving 100% away from traditional meetings and to crime prevention videos on You Tube or other methods. Twitter is very successful in Mt. View Liz posts 2-3 times a month. Posts include traffic accidents, schedule classes of interest to community, census updates. Mt. View has 1800+ Twitter followers right now. Attendance is down due to economy and some crime prevention units are being eliminated. CCPOA membership is down. Looking at hotels in Northern California for 2010 conference. Email Steve with ideas for training topics. Tentative date for 2010 conference is Sept 15-17. Hayward Question about block captains. Hayward has block captains in the city, but no group to go with them. Other agencies: San Ramon requires 2 meetings before they can become a block captain; Fremont runs records check for block captain applicants and they must have a group, a roster, map and be in the process of ordering signs. Shooting at Southland; robberies up; have 60 crime free properties in some stage of the certification process. Notify community of robberies and crime by hand distributing fliers to residences. SMASH once a month synchronized surveillance and raid on targeted problem home with multiple agencies (Code Enforcement, PD, Crime Prevention, City Attorneys Office, Fire, Street Narcotics Officer). Youth Academy M-F 3 hours a day advertised at St. Patricks Day festival, in recreation guide and on website. They have 41 students age 14-18. St. Patricks Day festival scheduled for March 13/14 at City Hall First Yahoo Internet Safety assembly conducted today went very well. Next one scheduled for March 26 Coffee with Chief scheduled First RAD KIDS program going well. Laura, Val and Gale Stolen packages, mail theft some arrests made. San Ramon San Ramon is in Region 12 and their meetings are the 3rd Thursday of the month next one is March 18 in San Ramon.
